Bilawal wants Punjab to bury politics of vindictiveness

SAHIWAL: Punjab will be the battleground between ‘arrow’ and ‘lion’ — the electoral symbols of PPP and PML-N — in the upcoming elections, but it will not be based on revenge, hatred and further divisions in society, as people will bury the politics of vindictiveness and align with the progressive manifesto of PPP on February 8.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari addressed a public meeting at the Hockey Stadium, focusing on south Punjab during his election campaign. He emphasized the need for a future free of vindictiveness, offering his party’s vision. Bhutto-Zardari warned against divisive politics, suggesting that a victory for the ‘lion’ (referring to a rival party) would bring back a politics of hatred, hindering progress. He highlighted Pakistan’s economic crisis, claiming the PPP as the party with the vision and commitment to address challenges. Bhutto-Zardari pledged support for marginalized groups, redirecting subsidies from the privileged to low-income individuals. He promised assistance for unemployed youth, farmers, and growers, emphasizing reform in market forces for fair crop prices. In a veiled attack on the rival PML-N, he stated the PPP needed one term, not four, to achieve its manifesto goals. The gathering was attended by party supporters, office-bearers, and wings from various sectors.
