Cambodia, China sign agreement for renovation project for the friendship building of the Office of the Council of Ministers


On March 4th, Vongsey Vissoth, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister in Charge of the Office of the Council of Ministers, alongside Ms. Zhong Jie, Advisor to the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Cambodia, signed an agreement for the renovation project of the Friendship Building of the Office of the Council of Ministers, funded by a grant of 53.2 million Yuan.

Vissoth warmly welcomed Ms. Zhong Jie and expressed profound gratitude to the People’s Republic of China for its consistent technical and financial support to Cambodia. He expressed confidence in China’s continued assistance across various sectors in alignment with the Joint Statement on Building a Common Destiny Community between Cambodia and China in the New Age.

Highlighting the longstanding and deep-rooted relations between Cambodia and China, Vissoth credited His Majesty the King-Father Samdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk and former Prime Minister Hun Sen for laying the foundation and fostering prosperity.

Vissoth affirmed the Royal Government of Cambodia’s commitment, led by Prime Minister Hun Manet, to enhance and broaden the bilateral relationship, friendship, and cooperation with China. This includes a focus on initiatives such as the Diamond Cooperation and the 2024 Initiative, emphasizing people-to-people exchanges.

Vissoth commended the dedicated efforts of both Cambodian and Chinese working groups, particularly acknowledging Ms. Zhong Jie’s contribution to reaching the agreement.
