The Siem Reap Provincial Administration issues a press release regarding an incident involving a tourist bus at the parking lot in front of Angkor Wat temple on March 5, 2024, at 05:50 am.

Preliminary research by the police indicates that the bus, carrying tourists to view the sunrise at Angkor Wat temple, entered the parking lot where an explosion and fire occurred due to technical issues with the bus bearing license plate Phnom Penh 3E-4674.

The fire subsequently spread to two other buses. The Provincial Administrative Unity Command is collaborating with relevant ministries and institutions, directing provincial authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.

While no tourists were harmed, two Cambodians sustained injuries. The provincial administration urges national and international media, as well as the public, to refrain from disseminating unsubstantiated information or personal opinions that could jeopardize security, order, and socio-economic stability, leading to legal repercussions.
