Shandong (Cambodia) Economic and Technological Development Zone, a major Chinese agricultural company, expressed interest in expanding its investments in cassava and cashew processing plants in Cambodia.
Wu Yu Jie, Chairman of Shandong (Cambodia) Economic and Technological Development Zone, paid a courtesy call on Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on November 6, 2024 in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China.
During the meeting, Wu Yu Jie praised Cambodia’s progress across various sectors and expressed confidence that, under the wise leadership of the Prime Minister, the country will continue to prosper. He also briefed the premier on the company’s investment activities in Cambodia, which began in 2012 in the agricultural sector with a focus on cassava and cashew crops.
The company intends to expand its investments in cassava and cashew farming and establish a cashew processing factory in Cambodia.
In this regard, Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed his appreciation for the company’s investments in Cambodia and welcomed its plan to establish a cashew processing plant. The premier underlined that the Royal Government supports companies investing in cultivation, processing, and direct export from Cambodia to China and other global markets.
On the occasion, Dr. Hun Manet also highlighted that the Royal Government’s policy continues to prioritise and encourage investment in agriculture and agro-industry. He encouraged the company to work closely with relevant ministries, particularly the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and the Council for the Development of Cambodia, to explore further incentives.
