Health ministry ‘fully alert’ as 15 cases of JN.1 Covid variant confirmed countrywide

The National Institute of Health’s (NIH) National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) has confirmed 15 cases of Covid-19’s JN.1 variant, the health ministry said on Tuesday.
Pakistan is closely monitoring the emergence of the JN.1 sub-lineage of the Omicron variant, with an effective screening system in place at international entry points. Health authorities are on high alert, and preventive measures, including increased screening and advisories, have been implemented to curb the potential spread of the new variant. Fifteen cases have been reported so far, prompting coordinated efforts between federal and provincial governments to protect public health.
