Objections against delimitations cannot be raised after release of election schedule, rules SC

Removing further impediments in the path of the February 8 polls, the Supreme Court (SC) on Monday ruled that objections could not be raised against the delimitation of constituencies once the election schedule was released.
The Supreme Court, led by Justice Sardar Tariq Masood, accepted the Election Commission of Pakistan’s appeal, overturning changes to Zhob and Shirani constituencies by the Balochistan High Court. Justices emphasized the court’s limits, nullifying the BHC decision. The move ensures timely polls, as the ECP released the schedule after SC intervention. Balochistan’s Election Commissioner, Ejaz Anwar Chohan, pledged to use all resources for peaceful and fair elections, with security measures in place. The SC had also suspended the Lahore High Court’s verdict on appointing officers, securing the election schedule.
