CM Gandapur meets Imran to finalise KP cabinet

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur visited Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi on Tuesday to meet with the incarcerated PTI founding chairman, Imran Khan, discussing the formation of the provincial cabinet.

According to Raoof Hasan, spokesperson for the former prime minister, Gandapur and Khan discussed various issues during the meeting, including the names of potential provincial cabinet members. Hasan stated that Gandapur has the authority to announce the cabinet members, expressing hope for an imminent announcement.

Sources indicate a decision to form a small cabinet in KP to alleviate the burden on the exchequer.

After the meeting, Gandapur emphasized that PTI’s political pursuits extend beyond power acquisition, citing the dissolution of KP and Punjab assemblies in the interest of democracy and the nation.

Addressing media inquiries, Gandapur asserted Khan’s role in the battle for workers’ rights and national interests, indicating that only Khan could determine reconciliation with the establishment. However, he reaffirmed PTI’s commitment to maintaining a constructive relationship with the federal government.

Meanwhile, the PTI submitted its first resolution of the current tenure in the National Assembly, advocating for the release of imprisoned PTI leadership, including Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi, along with other leaders and journalists.

Signed by 13 members, the resolution demands the immediate release of leaders and an end to the alleged misuse of law and fabrication of cases against Khan and others.

Former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser announced plans for a peaceful protest movement against alleged electoral malpractice, aiming to reclaim what PTI perceives as a stolen public mandate. He also vowed to submit a resolution for the withdrawal of cases against incarcerated leaders and journalists, ensuring that the movement adheres to legal frameworks and constitutional principles.
