Cambodian women actively participate and play an important role in improving family and social life, says PM

The Prime Minister of Cambodia, Dr. Hun Manet, considered Cambodian women to be actively involved and play an important role in improving the living conditions of families and the economic growth of the family and society.

Speaking on the occasion of the 113th anniversary of the International Women’s Day, March 8, 2024, on March 7, the premier said, “In 2024, Cambodia celebrates the 113th International Women’s Day under the theme” Women and Children in the Digital Revolution,” which aims to highlight the potential and importance of the participation and representation of women and girls in the digital economy and society in Cambodia.”

The premier continued that “the Royal Government has continued to prioritise the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls in all fields in the first phase of the Pentagon’s policy and strategy agenda by strengthening citizenship in a highly civilised society with art, equity, and an environment in which women are the core.

The Royal Government of the 7th legislature will uphold the legacy of the previous government, led by former Prime Minister Hun Sen, by enhancing gender agendas, empowering women in economy, education, health, leadership to take advantage of gender dividends, create favourable conditions for women, exercise their right to health decisions and family planning, reduce their vulnerability to gender-based violence against women and girls, and promote intergenerational relationships.”

He added that the win-win policy has brought prosperity to women in Cambodia peacefully and has created favourable conditions for the nation to develop and prosper, which allows the Royal Government to continuously expand its investment in social development, implement gender-responsive policies and programmes, and protect human rights, especially the wider promotion of women’s rights.

“In the field of education, the gender gap at the primary and secondary levels has been eliminated; Cambodian women have been actively involved and have played an important role in improving the living conditions of the family and the economic growth of the family and society,” the premier underscored.
