The European Union (EU) will provide $13 million to support the third phase of the Bak Kheng water treatment plant, expanding clean water access for people in Phnom Penh and surrounding areas, particularly for the poor and workers on the outskirts. The announcement was made during a visit by European Commissioner Jutta Urpilainen and Minister Hem Vandy on March 13, 2024. The project aims to ensure access to clean and safe water as a fundamental right, contributing to sustainable development in Cambodia. Through this initiative, over 898 kilometers of clean water network will benefit thousands of families.
