Cambodia’s aviation industry continues its strong rebound, with 2 million passengers passing through its international airports this year’s first five months.
This figure marks a significant increase of 25 percent compared to the same period in 2023.
“The figures are a testament to the recovery of Cambodia’s aviation industry from the Covid-19 pandemic and proudly moving forward,” emphasized Mao Havannal, the Minister in Charge of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation, during an inspection visit to the under-construction Techo International Airport on June 6.
In 2024, Cambodia will have 31 domestic and foreign airlines operating flights from 8 ASEAN countries, China, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.
Currently, three international airports operate in Cambodia: Phnom Penh International Airport (PNH), Siem Reap Angkor International Airport (SAI), and Sihanouk International Airport (KOS).
Last year, Cambodia experienced a remarkable surge in air passenger traffic, welcoming over 5.1 million passengers, a staggering increase of 115 percent compared to 2022.
The under-construction Techo International Airport, located in Kandal and Tekeo provinces, is scheduled for commercial commence in mid-2025
